Having your manuscript ready to
submitting to a publisher is not as simple as finishing the story.
That's the easy part; now comes the hard work.
Your work must be immaculate - no
spelling, punctuation, or grammatical errors, and no blunders like the
protagonist starting with green eyes and finishing with brown.
As much as you can check these
yourself, it is always advisable to have a professional do this for you.
Sure, the publisher will have an editor check your work, but if there
are more than a small handful of errors, they won't contract your work.
Every error encountered costs the
publisher time and money. The more errors they find, the more work they
have to do to fix your manuscript, the less likely they are to contract
your book.
Cheryl has six published books
with three more contracted for publication, works as a freelance
journalist (one magazine column lasted three years), loads of
non-fiction articles published, as well as short stories and poetry.
She has edited a number of books
for clients, and regularly edits other works, such as non-fiction
articles, short stories and novels.
